Payment options

At Dentistry for Chickens, we believe everyone deserves access to quality dental care. We know cost can sometimes be a barrier, so we offer a range of flexible payment options to help you get the treatment you need, without financial stress.

Our payment options are designed to give you choices. Whether you prefer to spread your costs gradually, pay in smaller instalments, or use insurance and third-party providers, our team will guide you through the process and make sure you understand what works best for you.​

Our payment plan

Our pre-paid payment plan lets you spread the cost of treatment over time with no interest or hidden fees. It’s personalised, flexible, and designed to fit your budget and treatment needs. Unlike traditional finance, everything is handled by our team, so there are no credit checks, no third parties, and no surprises.

How it works:

1. Discuss your treatment: Your dentist presents you with one or more treatment options.

 

2. Choose your treatment: Select the treatment option that you would like to proceed with.

 

3. Set your budget: Tell us how much and how often you’d like to pay towards your treatment.

 

4. Review your schedule: We’ll send you a letter with your repayment and treatment timeline.

5. Confirm online: You’ll receive a secure link to finalise your plan and provide your details for direct debit.

​

6. Start your payment plan: We’ll send an email reminder three days before each payment is due.

​

7. Complete your treatment: We’ll schedule your appointments to complete your dental treatment.

​

This process ensures that you always know what to expect. We take the time to explain your repayment plan in plain language, and you’ll receive a written letter with all the details before we start. Once you’ve confirmed online, you can relax knowing everything will run smoothly with automated reminders and transparent scheduling.

Example: Crown case

Ella needs a crown and clean with a total cost of $2000. She decides to use our treatment plan. Her budget is $200 per week so her payment plan will be a total of 10 weeks.

Week 1: Plan starts

Week 4: She has her clean

Week 6: She comes in for her crown preparation and impressions appointment.

Week 10: She comes in for a final appointment to fit her new crown.

Example: Annual maintenance

David usually gets two cleans a year and a comprehensive check up once a year. He's just gotten his latest clean and decides to use a plan for the next one, paying $50 each month.

January: Plan starts

June: He comes in for his 6 monthly clean and decides to change his payments to $25 a fortnight instead.

December: He comes in for his annual check and second 6 monthly clean.

With our payment plan, you're in control. You are able to make adjustments to your plan part-way through and even cancel it for a refund in some instances. Here are some of the finer details:

Scheduling
We align your repayments with your treatment plan. For staged treatments like crowns, implants, veneers, root canals or clear aligners, you begin treatment while you’re still paying. The repayment schedule is always structured so the balance is cleared before your last appointment, giving you peace of mind.

 

Limits
There are no lower or upper limits. Our plans can be set up for any amount, whether it’s a simple filling or a full smile transformation. You can also set a plan for things like your annual checks and cleans so you know you'll always have your teeth in the best shape possible.

 

Unused funds
If treatment changes and you don’t use the full amount, we can refund the balance in full at no cost or keep it as account credit for future visits.

 

Flexibility
Life changes, and we understand that. Repayment amounts and frequency can be adjusted after the plan begins. If adjustments are made, your treatment timeline may shift, but your care will remain on track.

 

Refunds
If you change your mind before treatment starts, we’ll stop future payments and refund what you’ve already paid (minus a small 2% administration fee). You can also choose to leave the balance on your account for future treatment. Once treatment has started, refunds are not possible unless funds remain unused.

Missed payments
There are no penalty fees for missed payments. If a payment is missed, we’ll contact you and retry the debit. If two payments are missed in a row, your plan may be paused until we can review the situation together. Missed payments may cause delays in your treatment schedule.​​

Other payment options

Debit and Credit Cards

We accept Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards with no surcharges. We also accept Amex with a 2% surcharge.

You can also use Apple Pay or Google Pay to complete your transaction.

Afterpay

Afterpay lets you pay in four interest-free instalments over six weeks. To use it, you’ll need to sign up for an Afterpay account before your visit. Approval is instant if you meet their requirements, and you can manage your repayments in the Afterpay app. For full details, visit the Afterpay website.

Q Card / Q Mastercard

Q Card is a long-term finance option that allows you to spread costs over time, sometimes with interest-free offers available. You need to apply directly to Q Card. Once you've applied and been approved, you'll be able to use your card for payment. For more information or to check eligibility, visit the Q Card website.

ACC

If your dental problem is caused by an accident or injury, we may be able to apply to ACC for funding. If approved, ACC will cover part of your treatment cost. You’ll be responsible for any gap payment not covered by ACC, but this can be managed using our other payment options. Visit the ACC website for more info.

WINZ

Patients who qualify for assistance through Work and Income New Zealand (WINZ) can apply to have their dental care funded. WINZ may pay us directly or provide you with a payment card. We can help you with the necessary paperwork to make this process straightforward. See WINZ website for more details.

Southern Cross Easy-Claim

If you’re a Southern Cross member, we can process claims on the spot through Easy-Claim. This allows us to check your entitlements during your appointment, and you’ll only need to pay the difference not covered by your insurance policy. You can find out more about using Easy-Claim here.
